What Girl Nursery Dreams are Made of

An In-Home Newborn Session with Film, Digital, Polaroids + Super 8

Some nurseries are just… magic.
Not because they’re trendy or over-the-top, but because they feel like love has been poured all over. This one felt like stepping into a dream; the dream every little girl’s room seems to live in for a moment before growing up.

Tulip wallpaper climbed the walls like a vintage fairytale. A bobbin-spindled wooden crib sat tucked in the corner, surrounded by curated books, sweet bunnies and soft goose treasures, and handmade puffy fabric letters spelling out their precious little girl’s name which felt like a little love letter hanging on the wall.

Everywhere I looked, there were touches of thoughtfulness—a palette of dusty pinks and creams, vintage textures, cozy corners. It wasn’t overdone. It was her space. Made with intention, memory, and just a little bit of magic.

A few weeks earlier, I had the joy of photographing this sweet momma during her maternity session, where we got to experiment, play, + make art together. This time coming into their home to meet the newest member of their family, sweet little miss Rowe.

As an Indianapolis-based family and newborn photographer who leans into analog formats (35mm film, Super 8 video, and Polaroids), I can tell you this session reminded me exactly why I do what I do. There’s something deeply intimate about walking into someone’s home, camera in hand, and witnessing the softness that lives there.

If you’ve been wondering what an in-home session with me looks like — it’s this. It’s quiet moments. A momma rocking her newborn by the window. A dad holding his arms around both his girls. Me, swapping cameras between digital, 35mm film, Polaroids, + a rolling Super 8.

I’m looking out for those tiny in-between glances and yawns that will feel so big in a few years. Often I’m asked: “Is my house beautiful enough for photos?”

And to that I say: this is never about perfection. It’s always about love. About memory. About creating heirlooms your children will hold someday + think, “This was our beginning.”

For Indianapolis families, in-home newborn sessions offer something studio work just can’t: a story rooted in your real life.

The rhythm of your space. The light that spills through your windows at 10am. The book you read on repeat. The glider you nursed in. The crib you carefully chose. These aren’t just background details — they’re the memory threads.

As an Indianapolis family and newborn photographer who specializes in film and Super 8; I’m here to witness it, honor it, + hand it back to you in a way that feels like time travel.

Whether you’re expecting your first baby or want to document the sweetness of this new chapter, my in-home family and newborn sessions are designed to feel relaxed, unposed, and rich in meaning. Let’s work together in planning yours now!
